BBC Oxford’s Jo Thoenes recently spoke to MyHammer UK and Cowboy Builders personality, John Russell about the dangers of DIY.
It has surfaced in recent research that a third of Britons are planning to carry out home improvements this year. The amount of blag workmen out there is frightening and many people have already been victims of dodgy work carried out by these so-called “cowboys”. With these facts in mind, MyHammer has a few tips for you on how to avoid rogue “cowboy” tradesmen:
* Get a few quotes from different tradesmen and compare them. If the price discrepancy is high, try to find out the reasons. We highly recommend that you don’t just pick the cheapest because you want to save money. Quite often, going for the cheapest option creates further problems and you end up spending more in the end. Save from the start by making an informed decision.
