So just what is a PIR? It stands for Periodic Inspection (Report), and is a process during which a registered electrician examines the wiring of your property for faults and makes recommendations if applicable. The electrician then issues a report on the status of the wiring.
According to the Electrical Safety Council (ESC), the frequency with which testing should be done varies depending on a number of different factors. For example, a rental property should be inspected each time new occupants move in, whereas it is recommended that homeowners have an inspection every 10 years. You can find more detailed information on PIRs courtesy of the ESC here.
