Why should you always award jobs through the platform?

Security
The most important reason is that jobs awarded over the platform offer you peace of mind. Accepting a quote offers you the security of a contract which you have created on the platform. Tradespeople who go around the platform are also avoiding your contract and often demand extra fees or prove unreliable.

Cowboys don’t like contracts or ratings, so please consider this when you award the job!
See a quick how-to video here!

Ratings
Equally important is that jobs awarded on the platform also help the service provider to earn a positive rating, enhance their profile and promote themselves as a high-quality tradesman.  The bad eggs then receive bad ratings and the platform can improve for all users.

Improve MyHammer for everyone!

Finally, your tradesman/service provider rating helps other customers get jobs done at fair prices.

We are always striving to flush out the cowboys, so each job accepted over the website makes it a better place for everyone. Cowboys don’t like contracts or ratings, so please consider this when you award the job. It is 100% free to post a job on MyHammer and you are not expected to pay any fees!

Here’s how it works:

Before the quoting period has ended:
You can accept a quote from a tradesman/service provider at any time. Simply go to your Job Page in your account and click the “Award Job” button.

After the quoting period has ended:
To award the job, go to your Job Page in your account and click the “Award Job” button, which you can find next to each quote.

You have two weeks to review all of the quotes and choose the one you prefer most.
Make sure you look at their ratings and qualifications an do not just look at the lowest quote!

    Dear Frank,
Thank you for your post. You are more than welcome to try posting your job again. It may be that interested tradesmen were not able to work within the period you specified.
Or perhaps there was not enough information for them to assess the costs. We recommend that you do try again and hope that you find the right person for your job!

If the trader wants to look at the site, how do I know that they are realiable.

    Hi Kathleen,
Thanks for your question! If a tradesman has requested a site visit, it is because they want to ensure that they will be able to give you as accurate a quote as possible. Before agreeing to a site visit, take a look at their reviews and qualifications/certifications. If you are satisfied with what you see, go ahead with the site visit. Should you then decide to accept their quote, do so on the website. A reliable tradesman will not ask you to go around the platform!
